Cape Flattery

Pretending to be pirates.

We went on a hike to Cape Flattery last weekend. Erik took the day off so we were determined to go. It was wet. It was cold. It was beautiful. This is the very northwestern point in the contiguous United States. Most of the hike wasn't too wet since there were tall trees above us but at the end the trees let up to views of the ocean. The wind blew so hard at the end of the trail that Carson was blown backward onto the ground. Brittney- Flat Grace is in the envelope.

Calista's Birthday

Calista turned 12 on the 3rd. She likes cows, Taylor Swift, Mary Downing Hahn books and Clan of the Cave Bear, smiley faces, mismatched socks, animals in general and school. One more year and she'll be a teenager. Ech.

Sick of Sick

We've been sick at our house for about a month now. It started with Ewan getting bronchitis and then we all started coughing. I ended up getting pneumonia and pertussis and had to be on antibiotics twice. We are all finally feeling better and then Ewan gets an eyelash in his eye or it just itches and he scratches it, scratching the lens and now has to be on antibiotic and get eyedrops for his eye that is now huge, discolored, and swollen. He rarely will open it and just cries all day. He has to go back to the doctor tomorrow. Erik often makes the comment that we are lucky we don't live 100 years ago because Ewan would be dead 7 times over.
Since I don't have a current sick picture, here is a collection of Ewan sick pictures.

Year End Book Totals

I don't know if you know but last year Jeff, Calista and I had a book reading contest. To count the book had to be over 50 pages. This year it has to be over 100. The categories for winning include: books read, pages read, and genres read. Here are the results.

Jeffrey won in both the books and pages read categories.
I won in genres only.
Calista accomplished no small feat but will win this year.

Jeffrey:
Books Read 69
Pages Read 22,067
Genres Read 11

Calista:
Books Read 64
Pages Read 16,547
Genres Read 10

Angela (Me):
Books Read 68
Pages Read 16,975
Genres Read 12

What does Jeffrey win? Bragging rites and me telling all of you.

Ode to Pants

So I've had these same pair of (slightly ugly I must admit) pants that went through all four of my kids and I believe Brittney had them for her kids for a while just to give them back when I had my younger set of kids. The pants which were getting slightly short for Ewan finally got two holes in the knees. I just don't think they make pants to last longer than a few months anymore so this video is an ode to the pants that we couldn't see ourselves casting into the garbage. We sent the pants off ala Star Wars style. Goodbye pants we will miss your quality.
