I just want you to know Shatner will be at Comicon this next year. (March 5th to be exact.) I'm giddy.

Boys' Birthdays

I know it isn't Jeff's birthday yet but it is on Thursday so we had cake early. On Friday we are going to see the Harry Potter exhibit at the museum where they have recreated entire rooms at Hogwarts and it also has interactive exhibits like pulling mandrakes. Then we are going to see the movie on the IMAX screen. (We bought our tickets weeks in advance.) Happy 3rd and 13th boys. I love ya.

Back to School:

I was awful and didn't take pictures of the kids on their first day this year.

Synopsis:

Jeff is in eighth grade this year playing the saxophone in Jazz Band and the clarinet in Band. He is taking Algebra. He takes music lessons on Fridays.

Calista is in sixth grade and is playing the viola in orchestra. She started having two teachers and is making a family shield with a motto. She thinks the motto should be "Try it again" but Erik, Jeff, and I think it should be, "A person chooses, a slave obeys" but it is her shield. Her lessons are on Wednesdays.

Carson started Kindergarten this year and she still seems too small to do it. I did get pictures and, uncharacteristically, Ewan wanted to be in them wearing his new coat. She takes gymnastics every Wednesday and Friday.

Ewan will be starting his preschool/speech class next week. He gets the boring job of hanging around me Thursday through Sunday and Erik Monday through Wednesday.

Weird how some months you take a lot of pictures of one kid more than others. August was Carson's month.

Willy

Erik gave me the best present for my birthday. It is a 1945 Willys Jeep. Although it doesn't run yet, it will be running sooner than we expected. It has a lot of work to do on it but both Erik and I are learning a lot about it. I have wanted one of these for as long as I wanted a specific car (which is probably only since I was 21 but still that is 11 years). I can't wait to drive it up the mountain roads and around town. We are going to register it as a classic and I could take it to car shows. The last picture is a 1945 ad for the Jeep.

These pictures are from an overnight campout on which Erik took Jeff and Calista. They ended up hiking around 15 miles in the 2 days.

These are pictures Carson drew. The first is of our family as cyclopses and this picture shows how she feels about Ewan seeing that he is the one flying up into a tornado. The second picture is a person with a huge head trying to eat smaller people and her name is written inside the mouth. The third picture is a person/kite wearing rainbow pants.

This is where I now work. I only started yesterday so right now it is a lot to learn and very busy with the summer season.
